Oh please tell me you are JOKING

There is just NO WAY.

DELTONA, Fla. – An angry Deltona father whacked his teenage daughter's boyfriend with a metal pipe after finding the boy naked in his daughter's room. Authorities say the father, 45, didn't even know his daughter had a boyfriend or that the youngster had been sneaking into the home for more than a year.

When he heard noises coming from his daughter's bedroom Thursday morning and saw a stranger standing naked on the girl's bed, he swung a metal pipe. He then chased the teen out the front door and called police.

The boy was taken to the hospital where doctors closed a head wound with staples.

The father was charged with aggravated battery on a child and bonded out on $10,000.

Do WHAT?  "The father was charged with aggravated battery on a child"?

What would YOU do?  That "child" was trespassing, exposing himself indecently, and assaulting your effing daughter!  I would have beat him unconcious and stripped darling daughter's room of everything she owned but furniture and her clothes.

They should charge the BOY and toss him in DJJ.

Yeah well I agree totally with you, however this is 2008 and the rights of parents are no longer what they used to be.

Up here a convicted baby killer (Of a 4 month old little boy!) has now been transferred to another jail and 3 corrections officers have been suspended because they "assaulted" him.

Yup - makes perfect sense to me!

Hang on, now. At the risk of alienating some folks, I'm going to step in here and ask a few questions. How old are the "children" in question? If the boy has been sneaking into the home for more than a year, there's got to be some complicity on the part of the girl. I also don't think that deadly force - and don't tell me that a metal pipe isn't deadly force - is necessary against an obviously unarmed teenager (he was naked, for crying out loud - I doubt he posed much of a threat).

Maybe it's just me, but I'm okay with the father's being charged. He overreacted, and should have been grown-up enough to get to the bottom of the story before he started swinging metal pipes at people's heads.

Mrs Chili, you opinion is just as valued as anyone elses! If anyone feels alienated they can throw themselves on their beds and write moody poetry. :D

I'd also like to know the ages of the kids (My response was working under the ASSumption that the girl was under 18 ;) )

I think there was complete complicity on the girl's part! BUT that is the parent's house, not hers, thus the boy was tresspassing even if she let him in (which I'm sure she did).

As for the pipe, well, I'm sure dad grabbed the first thing at hand for smacking intruders.

The boy did this of his own free will - entered another's house uninvited, went freeballin' in someone's daughters bedroom.

You play big, you pay big.

A man has a right to defend his home and his child (even if she is stupid enough to do the nasty in her own bedroom with her dad home).

JMHO

I have to agree with Mrs Chili here. The thing is I'm not quite sure on legalities of force etc in the USA. In the UK or here in Australia the father would of been charged with excess force and assault as the boy was not a threat. He was not committing an act of violence that needed to be defended. He was entertaining the daughter at her consent and invitation. There was no reasonable force used to remove him from the premises(grab by arm, throw outside)he was hit with a pipe. That smacks of father frustration as opposed to defence.

I don't know. it sounds like excessive force, but it depends on what the father thought when he saw the boy in his daughter's room. If he had no idea she was even dating, then it's possible he saw the boy as an intruder trying to rape his daughter. I wouldn't blame any parent for doing what he did in that circumstance.

But just how does she hide the boyfriend from her dad for so long when she's stupid enough to have sex with him in her own home?

An d how old was the daughter?

And, I must admit, if it was my daughter, I'd probably be the one being charged right now.

If I woke up in the middle of the night to find a person of the male persuasion that I did not know in my daughters bedroom, I most likely would have filled his ass with buckshot.

This person was an unknown person to me and was in my home and my childs room uninvited.

And when I got done with him, and discovered the truth, most likely my daughter would have a hard time sitting for awhile.

You can of course elaborate on all kinds of things, like, it's my house, age of the daughter, age of the bf, age of consent in your state, blah, blah, yada, yada.

But for me it boils down to I have, to the best of my knowledge an univited male in my daughters room that I do not know, and that is all the reason I need to smuck him upside the head and then dial 911.

There are just too many weirdos and perverts out there these days to take a chance.

Just my redneck opinion!
